Hadith 931

Sulaiman bin Buraidah narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The wives of the Mujahideen are as respectable for those who stay behind as their own mothers. And if any person from those who stay behind commits treachery regarding the wife of a Mujahid, then on the Day of Resurrection he will be made to stand before that Mujahid, and it will be said to the Mujahid: O so-and-so! This so-and-so, son of so-and-so, committed treachery against you, so take from his good deeds as much as you wish." Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) turned towards us and said: "What do you think (about this)?"

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
In this hadith, the virtue of the mujahideen is mentioned, and the women of their households who remain at home have been given the status of mothers. When a mujahid goes out for jihad or departs to serve the religion in any field for the sake of the religion, his family women should be shown great respect, and not, upon finding them alone, should anyone attempt to violate their honor.

Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
1) The concept of betrayal (khiyanat) is very broad. Mistreating them, deceiving them, or seducing his wife and leading her astray, etc.—all of these are included within it.

2) "He will leave it"—when every person will be in dire need of good deeds and each and every good deed will be precious, it is impossible that anyone would be negligent in taking a good deed, especially when he is given free rein to do so.

Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The protection of the lives, wealth, and honor of the families of the mujahideen who are engaged and occupied in jihad and fighting, and serving them, is an act of immense reward and merit.
➋ And displaying betrayal or wickedness towards them is akin to someone behaving in such a manner with his own mother.
➌ And by analogy, this ruling applies to those who are absent from their homes for other intellectual boundaries of Islam, such as in the pursuit of teaching and learning.
➍ Therefore, it is obligatory upon their relatives and other members of society to fully safeguard and honor the families of such individuals, just as they would protect their own mothers.
