92 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا مَنْصُورٌ نا ذَرٌّ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ مَهَانَةٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «تَصَدَّقْنَ يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ وَلَوْ مِنْ حُلِيِّكُنَّ فِإِنَّكُنَّ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ» فَقَامَتِ امْرَأَةٌ لَيْسَتْ مِنْ عِلْيَةِ النِّسَاءِ فَقَالَتْ: لِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: «لِأَنَّكُنَّ تُكْثِرْنَ اللَّعْنَ، وَتَكْفُرْنَ الْعَشِيرَ» ¤ ثُمَّ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: «مَا وُجِدَ مِنْ نَاقِصِ الْعَقْلِ وَالدِّينِ أَغْلَبَ لِلرِّجَالِ ذَوِي الرَّأْيِ عَلَي أُمُورِهِمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ» قَالَ: فَقِيلَ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَمَا نُقْصَانُ عَقْلِهَا وَدِينِهَا؟ قَالَ: «أَمَّا نُقْصَانُ عَقْلِهَا فَجَعَلَ اللَّهُ شَهَادَةَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ بِشَهَادَةِ رَجُلٍ، وَأَمَّا نُقْصَانُ دِينِهَا فَإِنَّهَا تَمْكُثُ كَذَا يَوْمًا لَا تُصَلِّي لِلَّهِ سَجْدَةً»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O group of women! Give charity, even if it is from your jewelry, because the majority of the inhabitants of Hell are from among you.” Then a woman stood up who was not from a prominent family and she asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the reason for this? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The reason is that you women frequently curse and are ungrateful to your husbands.” Then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No creature has been found who is deficient in intellect and religion, yet overcomes wise men in matters, more than women. The narrator says: So it was asked: O Abu Abdur Rahman! What is the deficiency in their intellect and religion? He replied: As for the deficiency in their intellect, Allah Almighty has made the testimony of two women equal to the testimony of one man. As for the deficiency in their religion, a woman cannot perform prayers for several days while prostrating before Allah Almighty.

In this hadith, the importance of charity (sadaqah) has been mentioned. Both men and women are included in this, even though the address was specifically to women. Special attention should be given to the education and upbringing of women. They should be taught religious sciences and disciplines so that the fear of Allah may develop in them, and they may be saved from Hellfire. Two bad traits are commonly found among women: ➊ Cursing. ➋ Ingratitude towards their husbands, and both of these are the worst traits. Men are stronger than women, and in terms of religion and intellect, they are superior to women. This is the reason that the great honor of prophethood was granted to men, not to women. Similarly, men are eligible for leadership and authority, not women. It is also a fact that when someone with little intellect and little knowledge argues with a person of knowledge, the person of knowledge remains civilized, but the one with little knowledge speaks words full of foolishness, and thus prevails; this is the same situation with women. A woman, during her menstrual period (hayd), will not perform prayer (salah), nor will she fast (sawm), but later she will make up the missed fasts (qada), whereas she will not make up the missed prayers. When it is established that women are deficient in intellect, it is therefore all the more necessary to educate and train them. It is unfortunate that their morals are being further corrupted in schools and colleges, and such a dangerous situation has arisen that the pen does not permit its description.
