Hadith 90

Sufyan narrates: We met Ata bin Saib in Makkah, and he informed us: We went to visit Abu Abdur Rahman Salami to inquire about his health, and his servant intended to give him medicine. I stopped him, but he said: Let him do it, because I heard Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "Allah Almighty has sent down a cure for every disease He has sent down." Sufyan sometimes narrated these words: "He has also sent down its healing." "So whoever knows it, knows it, and whoever does not know it, remains unaware of it."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
Allah Ta’ala loves His servant very much. As a result of this love, with every illness He has also sent down its cure. Both illness and healing are from Allah. In Sunan Abi Dawud: 3855 and Sunan Ibn Majah: 3436, this issue is clarified: a Bedouin asked, “O Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)! Will we be sinful if we do not use medicine for healing from illness?” The Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) replied: “O servants of Allah! Use medicine for healing, for Allah Ta’ala has made a cure for every disease He has created, except for severe old age.”

From this hadith, it is also understood that no disease is incurable; rather, a cure exists for every illness. It depends on a person’s effort, understanding, and attention to properly diagnose the illness and arrange for appropriate food and medicine. Allah Ta’ala has placed healing in certain things, for example: honey (: al-Nahl: 69), Zamzam (: Sunan Ibn Majah: 3062, its chain is hasan), and black seed (kalonji) (: Sahih al-Bukhari: 5688). The use of these things is extremely important; Allah Ta’ala certainly grants healing.
