The son of Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from his uncle that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a certain companion (whose name was mentioned by Zuhri, but Sufyan, the narrator, forgot it) to Ibn Haqiq, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from killing women and children.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: In war, it is prohibited to kill the children, women, and elderly among the disbelievers; only their young men, or those who come to the battlefield, are to be killed. How excellent is Islam as a religion, that it has established laws even regarding the killing of disbelievers, the observance of which is necessary.
