Sayyiduna Mahrash Ka‘bi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ‘Umrah at night from “Ji‘irrana.” I looked at the back of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and it was like a piece of silver. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was present in “Ji‘irrana” in the morning as if he had spent the night there.
Imam Humaydi narrates: Sufyan would sometimes mention Sayyiduna Mahrash Ka‘bi (may Allah be pleased with him) in this narration. If someone asked him about this, he would reply: His name is either Majrash, or Mahrash, or Makhrash. And sometimes he would also say: It is either this or that. That is, he was always uncertain about his name.
Imam Humaydi says: His name is “Mahrash.”
