Benefit: It is established from this hadith that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to recite Surah "Qaf" in the first rak‘ah of the Eid prayer and Surah "Al-Qamar" in the second rak‘ah. Whereas in another hadith, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would recite Surah Al-A‘la in the first rak‘ah and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the second rak‘ah of the Friday prayer and the Eid prayer. [صحيح مسلم بصلوة المسافرين : 878] The scholars should give due importance to the prescribed (masnun) recitation.

Anas reported: I observed prayer along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and with Abu Bakr, Umar and 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with all of them), but I never heard any one of them reciting Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim loudly.

Hadith Commentary:Benefits and Issues: Benefit:
Since Qatadah is a mudallis (one who sometimes omits his source in transmission), a doubt arose that perhaps he did not narrate directly from Anas radi Allahu anhu. After the explicit mention of hearing (sama‘), this doubt was removed.
