Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Shibl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: We were present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). A man stood before him and said: O Messenger of Allah! I beseech you by Allah to judge between us according to the Book of Allah. His opposing party stood up, and he was more understanding than him. He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! Judge between us according to the Book of Allah, but please allow me to say something. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Speak." He said: My son was working for this man. He committed adultery with his wife. I was informed that my son would be stoned, so I gave one hundred sheep and a servant as ransom for him. Then I inquired about this matter from some people of knowledge, and they told me that my son would be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year, and this wife would be stoned. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I will judge between you both according to the Book of Allah. The one hundred sheep and the servant will be returned to you. Your son will be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year. O Anas! Go to this woman, if she confesses, then stone her." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the woman, she confessed, so he had her stoned. Sufyan says: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) belonged to the Aslam tribe.
