Imam Humayd, may Allah have mercy on him, says: It was said to Sufyan: The narrator named Mu‘ammar has reported the addition of another person between Talhah and Sa‘id. So Sufyan said: I did not hear al-Zuhri mention anyone else between the two of them.
Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seizes a span of land unjustly, a collar as heavy as seven earths will be placed around his neck (on the Day of Resurrection), and whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: In this hadith, a type of oppression is described: whoever unlawfully seizes someone’s land—even if it is only as much as a handspan—it is forbidden. In exchange for this, on the Day of Resurrection, a collar of seven earths will be placed around the neck of the usurper. How grave this crime is, and how humiliating an act it is, that on the Day of Judgment, in front of all humanity, lands will be around his neck, and how will he walk? How will he bear such a heavy burden? What a tremendous punishment he will be given even before entering Hell. There is a lesson in this for every person: do not acquire even a single penny unlawfully, adopt piety in every matter, hold fast to the Qur’an and Hadith, and sit near the scholars to learn the knowledge of revelation, so that one may remain safe from the punishments of the Hereafter. This hadith also proves that whoever is killed while protecting his wealth is a martyr (shaheed). It is well known that protecting one’s honor, wealth, and life is obligatory. If anyone attacks them, defending them is also necessary. When it is permissible to fight against someone attacking one’s wealth, then it is even more necessary to fight against someone attacking one’s honor and life. In this case, the rank of the one martyred is less than that of the person martyred in the path of jihad. He will be given a proper shroud (kafan) and ritual bath (ghusl), whereas the one martyred in battle will not be given a shroud or ritual bath.
