Sayyiduna Shuraid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw a man who had let his lower garment hang below his ankles, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "Raise your lower garment." He replied: "O Messenger of Allah! I am somewhat lame, due to which my knees are in a state of discomfort, so to cover this defect of mine, I let my lower garment hang down." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Keep your lower garment up, and every creation of Allah Almighty is beautiful." (The narrator says) After that, that man was always seen in such a state that his lower garment was up to half of his shins.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: It is evident from this hadith that the companion’s lowering of his garment was not due to arrogance, yet the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) stated this because there could be suspicion of arrogance in it. If a person lowers his garment due to having crooked or thin shins, then this too is impermissible.
