The narrator named Sufyan says: Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to make it clear to the people that he let Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) go because he had narrated a hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), otherwise no one else would have the courage to return from any expedition without the permission of Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him).
