796 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ الصَّدُوقُ الْأَمِينُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ كُهَيْلٍ، يَقُولُ: مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ أَحَدٍ سَمِعَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا جُنْدُبًا الْبَجَلِيَّ، سَمِعْتُ جُنْدُبًا، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: «مَنْ يُسَمِّعْ يُسَمِّعِ اللَّهُ بِهِ، وَمَنْ يُرَاءِ يُرَاءِ اللَّهُ بِهِ»
Sayyiduna Jundub bin Abdullah Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever wants to become famous, Allah makes him famous, and whoever wants to show off, Allah exposes his show-off."
