Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: “Indeed, Allah Almighty will question the servant on the Day of Resurrection and will say: What prevented you, when you saw a wrong (munkar) thing in the world, from rejecting it? Then Allah Almighty will inspire the servant with his argument, so the servant will say: O my Lord! I had hope in You and I was afraid of the people.”

´Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said:` “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Allah will question His slave on the Day of Resurrection, until He says: “What kept you from denouncing evil when you saw it?” When Allah grants His slave a response, he will say: “O Lord, I hoped for Your mercy but I feared the people.”

Benefits and Issues: (1) Allah Ta'ala sometimes forgives sins due to a good deed.
(2) Whomever Allah Ta'ala wills to forgive, He will inspire the correct answer in his heart.
(3) Allah's mercy is very vast, but to become bold in committing sins and negligent regarding good deeds by relying solely on this is sheer misguidance.
