Jabir bin Samurah Suwai narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say to Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him): By Allah! The people of Kufa have complained about you in every matter, to the extent that they have even said you do not lead them in prayer properly. So Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! In leading the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, I do not fall short in following the way of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). I make the first two rak’ahs long and the last two rak’ahs somewhat shorter. The narrator says: Then I heard Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say: “That is what I thought of you. That is what I thought of you.”
