Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: It is established from this that during ‘umrah, intercourse is forbidden for a man; after completing ‘umrah, he is freed from the restrictions of ihram, and then intercourse with his wife becomes permissible.
Sayyiduna Jabir radi Allahu anhu said: The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam commanded his noble companions radi Allahu anhum to change their ihram to ‘umrah, perform tawaf, then shorten their hair, and thus be freed from the restrictions of ihram. [صـحـيـح الـبـخـاري قبل ح : 1791]
In this, tawaf refers to both the circumambulation of the House of Allah (Baytullah) and the sa‘i between Safa and Marwah, as clarified in Musnad Humaydi (683).
