Hadith 660
660 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «لَا يَتَنَاجَي اثْنَانِ دُونَ الثَّالِثِ» قَالَ: «وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَنَاجَي وَهُمْ ثَلَاثَةٌ دَعَا رَابِعًا»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Two people should not converse secretly with each other, leaving out a third." The narrator states: Whenever Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) wanted to speak to someone in secret and there were three people present, he would call a fourth person.
