Hadith 65

Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman narrates: Abu Darda became ill, so Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to visit him. Abu Darda said: To my knowledge, among the people, the best and the one who takes the greatest care of the rights of kinship is Abu Muhammad. So Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Allah the Exalted says: I am Allah, I am the Most Merciful (Rahman), I created the womb (rahm, kinship) and I named it after My name. So whoever maintains it, I will maintain ties with him, and whoever cuts it off, I will cut him off completely.”

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
The importance and virtues of maintaining family ties (silat ar-rahim) are established here. Nowadays, it is commonly understood that maintaining family ties means that if someone wishes to maintain a relationship with you, you also maintain a relationship with them. Although this situation is indeed included in silat ar-rahim, there is another situation which is many times more important, and that is also included: if someone wishes to sever ties with you, you still maintain ties with them. The word "rahim" is derived from "Rahman," and "Rahman" is one of the names of Allah Ta'ala.

In the chain of narration is Abu al-Raddad,
and in the words of Imam Tirmidhi below, "Raddad" has appeared.
Hafiz Ibn Hajar states that some people have referred to "Raddad" as "Abu al-Raddad,"
and this is more correct,
