Salim narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The people of Madinah will assume ihram from Dhu'l-Hulaifah, the people of Sham will assume ihram from Juhfah, and the people of Najd will assume ihram from Qarn."

Benefit: In this hadith, the mention of miqat (appointed stations for donning ihram) is found. The new name of Dhu’l-Hulayfah is Abar Ali, and it is the miqat for the people of Madinah, its surroundings, and those coming from behind it. It is located at a distance of 450 kilometers from Makkah al-Mukarramah.
Juhfah: This is the miqat for those coming from the direction of Syria, Egypt, and Turkey. This settlement has become deserted; now, the ihram is donned from the nearby place of Rabigh. It is situated 183 kilometers to the north of Makkah.
Qarn al-Manazil: This is the miqat for those coming from Najd and al-Rafah. The ihram is donned from its nearby place, al-Sayl. It is 75 kilometers from Makkah al-Mukarramah.
Yalamlam: This is the miqat for those coming from Yemen, Pakistan, and India. This mountain is 92 kilometers from Makkah al-Mukarramah.
In this hadith, there is a prophecy regarding the spread of Islam in all directions, and so it has happened, and all praise is due to Allah. Whoever comes to Makkah al-Mukarramah for Hajj or ‘Umrah must don ihram from these miqat. However, those who reside within the boundaries of these miqat will don ihram from their own place of residence.
