Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "The most beloved fast to Allah Almighty is the way of fasting of Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him). He would fast one day and not fast the next day. And the most beloved prayer to Allah Almighty is the prayer of Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him). He would sleep for half the night, then spend one third of the night performing voluntary prayers, then sleep for one sixth of the night."
