Sayyiduna Muti’ bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) was one of those people whose name was ‘As, and he was associated with the Quraysh. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed his name to Muti’. Among those named ‘As from the Quraysh, only he was blessed to accept Islam. He narrates: On the day of the conquest of Makkah, I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “After today, no Qurayshi will ever be tied up and killed.” Sufyan says: That is, he will not be killed because of his disbelief.
