Abu Aswad Daili narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me when I had already placed my foot in the stirrup. He asked me: Where are you intending to go? I replied: Iraq. He said: If you go there, you will surely be struck by the edge of the sword. Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah, before this I had also heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying this.

Benefit: From this hadith, it is established that the land of Iraq was a land of tribulations, and its people were not those who accepted the truth; rather, they would kill the one who spoke the truth. And this is indeed a reality that this land has remained a land of tribulations.
