Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a dead goat belonging to the slave woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), which had been given to her as charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its owner will not be harmed if he takes its skin, tans it, and benefits from it." The people said: O Messenger of Allah! It is dead. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It has been made unlawful to eat." The narrator named Sufyan sometimes mentioned Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) in this narration and sometimes did not mention her, so we are mentioning it both ways.
