442 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا جَامِعُ بْنُ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ، وَعَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ، وَعَاصِمُ ابْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ أَنَّهُمْ سَمِعُوهُ مِنْ أَبِي وَايِلٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي غَرْزَةَ يَقُولُ كُنَّا نُسَمَّي السَّمَاسِرَةَ عَلَي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَانَا وَنَحْنُ بِالْبَقِيعِ وَمَعَنَا الْعَصَا فَسَمَّانَا بِاسْمٍ هُوَ أَحْسَنُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ «يَا مَعْشَرَ التُّجَّارِ» فَاجْتَمَعْنَا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا الْبَيْعَ يَحْضُرُهُ الْحَلِفُ وَالْكَذِبُ فَشُوبُوهُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ»
Sayyiduna Qais bin Abu Garza (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we were called agents. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us while we were in Baqi', and we had horses with us. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave us a name better than our previous one. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O group of traders," so we gathered in his presence. Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "In this trade, oaths and lies become involved, so mix charity into it."
