Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates this statement of Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to ask him for a servant. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you something that is better for you than that? When you go to bed, recite Subhan Allah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and Allahu Akbar 34 times. (After narrating this tradition) Sufyan said: One of these phrases is to be recited 34 times. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Since I heard this from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I have never abandoned it. People asked him: Not even on the night of the Battle of Siffin? He replied: Not even on the night of the Battle of Siffin (did I abandon it).
