406 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا يَحْيَي بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي بُشَيْرُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَي ابْنِ حَارِثَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ يَقُولُ: «نَهَي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرِ بِالتَّمْرِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ رَخَّصَ فِي الْعَرِيَّةِ أَنْ يُبَاعَ بِخَرْصِهَا يَأْكُلُهَا أَهْلُهَا رُطَبًا»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale of fruit in exchange for dates, however, he granted concession in the case of ‘Ariyyah, that it may be sold by estimation, so that its owner (or household) may eat fresh dates.
