Hadith 400
400 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ بِالشَّامِ (وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَي وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّي وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَي) فقَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: هَكَذَا سَمِعْتَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ يَقْرَؤُهَا؟ فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: هُوَ يَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ «سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَؤُهَا كَذَلِكَ ﴿ وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَي﴾»
Alqamah narrates: I recited this verse in Syria: «وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى», so Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Have you heard Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) recite this verse in this way? I replied: Yes! Then he said: And he testified and stated that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this verse in this way: «وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى»
