Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When defecating or urinating, do not face the Qiblah or turn your back towards it, rather (from the perspective of Madinah) face towards the east or the west." Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When we came to Syria, we saw toilets built facing the Qiblah, so we would sit a little sideways and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty. Sufyan was told that the narrator Nafi bin Umar does not mention its chain of transmission, so Sufyan said: I remember this narration and I mention its chain as I have narrated to you. Then he explained that the narrators from Makkah had obtained a written document which a narrator named Humaid had brought from Syria. And these narrations were noted from Zuhri, so when that document reached Ibn Jurjah, the people of Makkah began to avoid Ibn Shihab because of that document, however, we have heard this directly from Ibn Shihab.
