Shahr bin Hawshab narrates: I heard Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) saying: I, along with some women, pledged allegiance to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) said: "I will not shake hands with you. I have taken from you the pledge that Allah, the Exalted, was to take" (or as Allah, the Exalted, had commanded).

´It was narrated that Asma’ bint Yazid said:` “Some food was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) and it was offered to us. We said: ‘We do not have any appetite for it.’ He said: ‘Do not combine hunger and lies.’”

Benefits and Issues: ➊ Offering food to those present while eating is a good habit.
➋ When food is offered, one should not hesitate to accept it if hungry.
➌ If not hungry, there is no harm in not accepting such an offer. One should express gratitude; however, it is better to take a bite or two.
➍ Lying is not good even in situations of formality. One should adopt some other appropriate manner for excusing oneself.
