Imam Sha’bi narrates: Sayyida Fatima bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her) came to Kufa to her brother Hazrat Dihhak bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him), who had been appointed governor there. So we went to this lady to ask her, and she said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon at midday. He said: “I have not delivered this sermon to encourage you towards something or to frighten you from something, but rather because of an incident that Tamim Dari has told me. And because of this happiness, I did not rest at midday.”

“Tamim Dari narrated on behalf of his cousin that they were traveling by sea towards Syria. During this, a strong wind began to blow, so they took refuge in a ship at sea, where there was an animal with long eyebrows. We said: O animal! What are you? It replied: ‘I am Jassasah.’ We said: Tell us something. It said: I will neither tell you anything nor do I wish to know anything from you. However, in that place of worship, there is a man who is eager to tell you something and for you to tell him something. The narrator says: We entered that place of worship and there was a one-eyed man, bound in chains, expressing sorrow and complaining a lot. When he saw us, he said: Have you people followed the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? We informed him about this. He asked: What is the condition of the Lake of Tiberias? We said: It is in its original state; the people around it drink from its water and irrigate their fields with it. He asked: What is the condition of the date gardens between Amman and Baisan? They replied: They bear fruit every year. He asked: What is the condition of the spring of ‘Zar’?’ The people said: The people there drink its water and irrigate their fields with it. Then he said: If this dries up, I will be freed from these chains, and then I will trample the entire earth under my feet, except I will not be able to enter Madinah.” The narrator says: Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I am very pleased about this.” Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, on every path of this (i.e., Madinah), there is an angel standing with a drawn sword who will prevent him (the Dajjal) from entering it.”

Imam Sha’bi says: Later, I met Muharrar, the son of Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he narrated the same hadith to me from his father, from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), but he added these words (that he will not be able to enter Makkah either). He also stated that it will be from the direction of the east, and what is it that will come from the east, what is it? Imam Sha’bi narrates: I met Qasim bin Muhammad, and he narrated a similar report from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
