The same narration is transmitted from Sayyida Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) with another chain of transmission, however, in this version the following words are added: Sayyida Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: "We made three braids of her (the Prophet’s daughter’s) hair."

Explanation & Benefits

Benefit:
In this hadith, the ritual bath (ghusl) for a deceased woman is being described. "Shiar" refers to the garment that is in direct contact with a person's body, such as an undershirt, etc. It should be noted that when giving a ritual bath (ghusl) to a woman, it is not correct to place her hair upon her chest (Ahkam al-Jana'iz by al-Albani: 312, 37); rather, her hair should be braided.
