344 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتَ رَقِيقَةَ تَقُولُ: بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَقَالَ: «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» فَقُلْتُ: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَايِعْنَا فَقَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُكُنَّ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ» قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ فَإِنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ فِيهِ أُمَيْمَةُ بِنْتُ رَقِيقَةَ نَسِيبَةُ خَدِيجَةَ فَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ هِيَ نَسِيبَةُ خَدِيجَةَ وَلَمْ يَقُلْهُ لَنَا ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ
Lady Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I, along with some women, pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As much as you are able and as much strength as you have (you should act upon these commands)." I said: Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) are more merciful to us than our own selves. O Messenger of Allah! Please take the pledge of allegiance from us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will not shake hands with you. My speaking with a hundred women is just as my speaking with one woman."
Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: It was said to Sufyan: Other hadith scholars have narrated that this narration is from Lady Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was a relative of Lady Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her). So Sufyan said: She was the daughter of Lady Khadijah's (may Allah be pleased with her) sister (niece). However, Ibn al-Munkadir, when narrating this hadith to us, did not mention these words.
