Mother of the Believers, Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When (the first ten days of) Dhul-Hijjah begin and a person intends to offer a sacrifice, then he should not cut anything from his hair or his skin (i.e., he should neither trim his nails nor cut his hair).”
Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sufyan was told: Some hadith scholars have not transmitted this narration as a “marfu’” (attributed directly to the Prophet) hadith, so he said: I will transmit it as a “marfu’” hadith.
