Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
This hadith proves that it is permissible to kiss one’s wife while fasting. It should be noted that a person who has self-control may do so, but one who does not have self-control should not kiss, lest he commit a sin during the fast, which would make expiation (kaffarah) obligatory upon him.

Benefits and Issues:

Righteous deeds are not accepted without sincerity (ikhlas).

Just as it is necessary to observe the outward pillars in worship, likewise the inner states—such as sincerity (ikhlas), love of Allah, fear of Allah, hope in Allah, etc.—are also required. In the absence of these, outward actions are of no benefit.

If, at any time, the required inner and heartfelt state is not present, one should not abandon the good deed. Because at the very least, this benefit will be attained: that one will not be counted among those who abandon obligatory acts. And by continuously performing that good deed, it can be hoped that some positive effect will certainly occur in the heart.

It is very important to observe the etiquettes (adab) of acts of worship.
