Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “An army will surely come with the intention of attacking this House (the Ka’bah), until when they reach an open plain, the middle part of them will be swallowed by the earth. Then the people at the front will call out loudly to those behind, and none of them will remain except for one person who was walking separately, and he will be the one to inform the people about them.” The narrator says: A man said to my grandfather: I bear witness that you have not narrated this incorrectly from Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) has not narrated incorrectly from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Sufyan says: Umair bin Qais narrated this on the authority of Umayyah, but I did not have the courage to ask him about this. He used to sit with Khalid bin Muhammad and Abdullah bin Shubah, who were among the elders of Quraysh at that time, and they used to sit in the night market which was held at the door of the mosque in those days. So Umayyah sought my help to get permission from Khalid bin Muhammad for him. I was not sure whether I would be able to get this for him or not, but when he asked me for help, I gained the courage regarding this matter and I asked them, and they narrated this hadith to me.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
The responsibility for the protection of the House of Allah (Baytullah) has been taken by Allah Himself. Near the Day of Judgment, the House of Allah will become desolate, and in the end, it will be demolished, and this will be among the major signs of the Day of Judgment.

Bayda refers to that flat land in which nothing grows.
It is also the name of a place between the Noble Makkah and the Noble Madinah.
In the hadith, most likely the second meaning is intended.

This incident will occur near the Day of Resurrection (Qiyamah).

Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
(1) "Even those in the middle will not be saved." That is, by 'the first and the last' is meant all of them, not just the two ends.

(2) "It will become a graveyard." That is, the believers too will perish, but they will not be punished, and on the Day of Resurrection they will also be separated from the disbelievers outwardly.

(3) This narration is authentic on the basis of corroborating reports, as the researcher of the book has also declared its chain weak but further written that the forthcoming narration suffices for this.

Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
It is as if Allah Ta'ala will continue to uphold the sanctity of the Haram, and God forbid, when the sanctity of the House of Allah (Baytullah) is no longer maintained, then the world itself will also be brought to an end.
