Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "O Aisha! If you have committed a sin, then seek forgiveness from Allah, because when a person commits a sin and then repents and seeks forgiveness from Allah Almighty, Allah forgives him."
Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sufyan sometimes narrated these words: "If you intended to commit a sin, then seek forgiveness from Allah, because repentance is to express regret and to seek forgiveness." However, Sufyan would mostly narrate the former words.
