Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the statement of Allah, the Exalted: “And those who give what they give while their hearts are fearful.” (23:60) Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: Are these the people who commit adultery, steal, and drink alcohol? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No, O daughter of al-Siddiq! They are those who perform prayers, fast, and give charity.”

Explanation & Benefits

Benefit: It is established from this hadith that if one does not have knowledge of something, one should ask the people of knowledge about it. The people of knowledge should be well-versed in sciences and disciplines so that they can answer people's questions. From this verse of the Noble Qur’an, it is established that only the person who has fear of Allah in his heart will give charity and alms, and it is only the believers who do so. And only that person gives charity to whom Allah grants the ability (tawfiq), and whose wealth is beloved to Allah. Otherwise, there are so many people who possess wealth, but they do not spend even a single rupee.
