Hadith 268

Imam Sha’bi narrates: Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), asking her to write back to him something she had heard from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). So Sayyidah A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) wrote back to him: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever disobeys Allah Almighty, then among the people, those who praise him will become his critics.”

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
From this, it is established that during the era of the Companions, hadiths were written and sent to one another, and in fact, the writing of hadith had already begun with great vigor during the Prophetic era itself, walhamdulillah. Allah Ta'ala created groups of Companions, Followers (Tabi'in), and Hadith scholars (muhaddithin) for the preservation of the Qur'an and Hadith. The very words with which the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) narrated the hadiths have been preserved with those same words. Furthermore, it is also understood from this that acting without obedience to the Qur'an and Hadith is a cause of humiliation in this world and the Hereafter. Even if someone temporarily praises such a person, in the end, he too will criticize him. In this hadith, we are taught to live our lives in accordance with the Qur'an and Hadith.
