255 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعْدَ بْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي الْأُمَمِ قَبْلَكُمْ مُحَدَّثُونَ، فَإِنْ يَكُنْ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ فَهُوَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ»

Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the nations before you, there used to be «محدث»; if there is such a person in this nation, it will be Umar ibn al-Khattab."
