Hadith 179

Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A Jewish woman came and said: May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave. So I said: O Messenger of Allah! Will we be punished in our graves? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said a word, the meaning of which was that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was seeking refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out on a mount, and during that time, there was a solar eclipse. So I and some other women came out from the chambers. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came quickly on his mount and stood on the prayer place. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said the takbir and stood for a long time, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) bowed and made a long bowing, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and went into prostration and made a long prostration, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) made a long prostration, but it was a little less than the first prostration. He (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the second rak’ah in the same way, so there were four bowings and four prostrations in the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: After that, I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You will be tested in your graves in the same way as the trial of Dajjal.” (Here, the narrator is in doubt about one word, whether the word ‘Masih’ was used or ‘Dajjal’ was used.)
