Hadith 162

162 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «السِّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِّ مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ»
Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The miswak cleans the mouth and is a means of the Lord's pleasure."

Explanation & Benefits

Benefit:
In this hadith, the importance of the miswak is mentioned, that it has two major benefits: ➊ The mouth remains clean and free from bad odor. ➋ The pleasure of Allah Ta'ala is attained. There is no doubt that using the miswak is a Sunnah, and by acting upon the Sunnah, Allah Ta'ala becomes pleased.
