Abdullah bin Unmah Juhani narrates: A man saw Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) performing a brief prayer. When he completed the prayer, the man said to him: O Abu al-Yaqtan! Today you performed a brief prayer. He asked: Did you see me shorten anything in the bowing or prostration? He replied: No. So Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I wanted to hasten in the prostration of forgetfulness, because I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Sometimes when a man finishes performing the prayer, only a tenth, or a ninth, or an eighth, or a seventh, or a sixth, or a fifth, or a fourth, or a third, or half of it is written for him in his record of deeds."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit: The imam should be intelligent; he should lead the prayer while considering the condition of the people. The prayer should be neither too short nor too long, but rather of moderate length. Not all worshippers receive equal reward; rather, each receives reward according to his own intention, sincerity, and humility and submissiveness (khushu‘ wa khudu‘).
