Hadith 1335

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order regarding the martyrs of the Battle of Uhud that they should be returned to the place where they were martyred, even though some of them had been moved from there to another place.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
1533. Commentary: The word [صلاة] has multiple meanings. One of its meanings is supplication (du'a). And the [صلاة] that is for the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is comprehensive and greater in its meaning. Its specific words have been taught to us Muslims, as is found in the Ibrahimic Salutation (Salat al-Ibrahimiyya), etc. For those other than the Prophet, salat (blessings) is generally recited in the salutation (durood) by way of following, as in [صلی الله علی النبيِّ محمدٍ وعلی آلِهٖ و صحبِهِ أجمعينَ) اور (صلی لله عليه وعلی آلهِ و سلم], where mention of the family and companions is well-known in the concise salutation. And you (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) were commanded to make a special supplication for those who present zakat, as Allah says: [صلوة] as in the statement of Allah: [خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّ صَلَاتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَّهُمْ] [التوبة۔103] "Take charity from their wealth by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke blessings upon them. Indeed, your supplication is reassurance for them." Thus, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to supplicate for the Companions (radi Allahu anhum ajma'in) with the word [صلاة], as is mentioned in this hadith. However, this salat is in the meaning of supplicating for mercy, because the word salat is used in several meanings.
