Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding the statement of Allah Almighty: «سَمَّاعُونَلِلْكَذِبِ» (5-al-Ma'idah:41) "Listeners to falsehood." This refers to the Jews of Madinah Munawwarah. «سَمَّاعُونَلِقَوْمٍآخَرِينَ» (5-al-Ma'idah:41) "Listeners to another people." This refers to the people of Fadak. «لَمْيَأْتُوكَيُحَرِّفُونَالْكَلِمَمِنْبَعْدِمَوَاضِعِهِ» (5-al-Ma'idah:41) "They will not come to you until they distort the words from their [proper] places." This refers to the people of Fadak who had said that if he commands flogging, then his command should be accepted, and if he does not, then one should avoid stoning.
