Hadith 1264

1264 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، يَقُولُ: " مَرِضْتُ فَعَادَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَهُمَا يَمْشِيَانِ فَأُغْمِيَ عَلَيَّ، فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَاءٍ، فَتَوَضَّأَ، ثُمَّ صَبَّهُ عَلَيَّ، فَأَفَقْتُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَقْضِي فِي مَالِي؟، كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فِي مَالِي؟، فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّي نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْمِيرَاثِ "

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I fell ill and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to visit me. Both of them came on foot. I fainted. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked for water and performed ablution, then he poured it over me and I regained consciousness. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What should I decide regarding my wealth? What method should I adopt regarding my wealth? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained silent until the verse regarding inheritance was revealed.
