1260 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَخْزُومِيَّ، يَقُولُ: قُلْتُ لِجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ: نَهَي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ؟ فَقَالَ: «نَعَمْ، وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ»
Muhammad bin ‘Abbad narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin ‘Abdullah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was performing Tawaf of the House of Allah: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibit fasting on Friday? He replied: By the Lord of this House! Yes.

This hadith contains the statement of the prohibition of fasting on the day of Jumu‘ah (Friday). During tawaf, important religious matters may be discussed. If one does not know something, one should ask the scholars about it. It is permissible to swear an oath when explaining a legal issue.

Benefits and Issues:
Some individuals have targeted the phrase of Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha, “You have likened us to donkeys and dogs,” using it as an argument against the wording of Sirat al-Mustaqim. However, such reasoning is misplaced, because Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha said this in an emotional manner, whereas there is no actual resemblance here.
The purpose of the hadith is merely to mention those things that can distract the mind and heart during prayer.
And even if, hypothetically, there were a resemblance here, what fault is there of those who narrate it? This statement was made by the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and how can anything he said be objectionable? That which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not consider offensive or insulting—why should we consider it so? Furthermore, if a person is not affected by a woman passing in front of him, then why did Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha consider sitting in front of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to be a cause of discomfort for him? And why would she slip away from the bed’s legs?

It is permissible to converse during the circumambulation (tawaf) of the Ka'bah.
However, it is preferable to avoid unnecessary conversation and to remain engaged in supplication (du'a) and remembrance (dhikr).

It is forbidden (haram) to swear by the creation of Allah.
But if Allah is mentioned along with one of His attributes, then there is no harm.
Therefore, instead of swearing by the Ka'bah, one should swear by the Lord of the Ka'bah.

It is permissible to take an oath to emphasize a statement.
However, taking oaths excessively without necessity is not good, and a false oath is a very great sin.
