Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Sayyiduna Sulaiman (peace be upon him) swore an oath, saying: Tonight I will have relations with seventy (70) of my wives, and all of them will give birth to sons who will fight in the way of Allah. His companion (the narrator is unsure, perhaps these are the words) or an angel said to him: Say ‘Insha’Allah’ (if Allah wills)! But he did not remember, and he had relations with his seventy (70) wives, but only one of them gave birth to a child, and he was incomplete.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If he had said ‘Insha’Allah’, his oath would not have been broken and he would have achieved his objective.”
