Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am free from liability for every companion's companionship. If I were to take anyone as a close friend (khalil), I would have taken Abu Bakr as my khalil, but your Master is Allah's khalil."
