Hadith 109

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He learned of this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "Two people should not converse in whispers excluding a third, for this will cause (the third person) grief."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Muhammad Ibrahim bin Basheer
Benefit:
In any circumstance, it is not permissible to hurt the feelings of a Muslim, whether that hurt is caused by speech or by action. One should live life with wisdom; in this there is great peace and contentment. When no one is harmed by you, then they too will not harm you; otherwise, life will pass in distress. Suspicion is the root of discord, and it must be avoided in every situation. When three people are gathered together, it is evident that there are good relations among them, but if two of them separate and converse privately, a series of suspicions will begin, and harm will result. For this reason, Islamic law has established such excellent principles—if only Muslims would live their lives according to these principles.
