1089 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، بِمِثْلِهِ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ: «وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ»
This narration is also transmitted with another chain. However, in it these additional words are present: "Begin spending on those under your care."

From this hadith, it is established that charity and alms should first be given to those whose maintenance and provision is one’s responsibility. Some people neglect their relatives and deliver charity to undeserving types of people; in this, even their intention is not correct, except for those upon whom my Lord has mercy.
