Hadith 1039

1039 - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّي اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تُوَاصِلُوا» ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّكَ تُواصِلُ، قَالَ: «إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي»

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not observe continuous fasting (wisal)!" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! You also observe continuous fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not like you; my Lord gives me food and drink."
