Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I have seen the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer while standing and while sitting, barefoot and wearing shoes. I have seen him getting up after prayer from the right side and from the left side as well. The narrator named Sufyan says: One of the narrators of this narration is Abul Adbar.

Benefit: From this hadith, it is established that prayer should be performed standing, but due to illness or an excuse, it is also permissible to pray while sitting. In the same way, it is also established that prayer should be performed barefoot, but it is also permissible to pray while wearing clean shoes. After concluding the prayer with salam, it is permissible to turn one's face towards the congregation either to the right or to the left.
